You'll find them in tourist shops and on fridges all over the world, as flags, food, animals and more.
People love buying magnets on their travels.
But a new study says they could be more than just souvenirs. UK researchers believe fridge magnets can help protect vacation memories and trigger different emotional responses.
The researchers chose to focus on fridge magnets not only because they're popular souvenirs, but also because of how often people see them at home after their vacation ends — people go to their fridge every day.
As part of the study, published in Annals of Tourism Research, the researchers asked UK participants about their feelings toward fridge magnets.
Some participants said magnets are better at helping them remember parts of their vacation than photos. One participant said he doesn't even take pictures while traveling — he just buys a fridge magnet at the end of the trip.
Another said they deliberately buy magnets to help them remember special moments from the vacation.music magnet, custom music fridge magnet,
For some participants, not buying a magnet can cause stress. One participant said she'd once forgotten to buy one while on vacation, so she bought one online when she got back home.
The team also found that magnets can cause people to think about bad things that happened on vacations — and, for some, help them think about how things got better later.fridge beats magnet, fridge beats, soufeel fridge magnet,
One person said she has a magnet from a trip to Spain that she called the worst trip of her life, and she kept the magnet to remember that time in her life and how things have changed since.

"It was clear that when people talked through what their magnets meant to them, they were very easily able to generate these memories and responses of very specific events or people," said lead researcher John Byrom.
